Apricot Seed oil is one of my favorite body oils. it has a pleasant scent that I took into consideration when I made the essential oil synergy so the scent blends nicely with the essential oils.
Apricot seed oil is good for all skin types; mature, dry, sensitive, inflamed. Thanks to the phytosterol content of b-sitosterol it is useful for relieving inflammation, dry skin, and itchiness. Apricot kernel oil protects the skin from free radicals and helps maintain a healthy skin barrier. It is moisturizing but does not lay on the skin.
Sweet Almond oil is prized for skin care. A study was released in 2019 that showed eating almonds daily led to significant reductions in facial wrinkles and age spots in postmenopausal women over 16-24 weeks.
Almond oil is a good emollient, it protects and nourishes the skin, reduces inflammation, and relieves dryness.
Jojoba is one of my favorite oils — well it’s technically a liquid wax. It’s very penetrating and carries essential oils deeply into skin. It contains the same sebum as our skin making it moisturizing and emollient. Jojoba makes it’s appearance in many of my facial and body oils.
Jojoba has a natural anti-bacterial action helping to protect and heal the skin from bacterial infections. It is frequently used in regenerative skin care, preventing aging skin.
Meadowfoam seed oil – A newcomer in my products 🙂 It is a dry oil that absorbs fast —it has a non-greasy feeling that is highly moisturizing benefitting all skin types. It has some properties similar to jojoba but with a higher antioxidant profile counteracting free radicals in the skin slowing the effects of skin aging.
Sea Buckthorn is another oil you will see in most of my products because of its deeply healing and protective nature. Sea buckthorn oil has been used to protect and heal the skin from radiation damage — it has even been used to reduce the risk of radiation burns for Russian astronauts working in space.
It is a highly nutritive oil and is the only known food to be a source of all 4 omegas, Omega 3, 6, 7, and 9. In fact to date the unique omega-7 is only found in sea buckthorn and mac nuts.
This oil gets its name from the sick and injured horses that were left in the wild, only to find them healthy again, turns out they ate the twigs, leaves, and berries of the prolific sea buckthorn plant. Its latin name, Hippophae, means shining horse.
For the essential oil synergy:
I started with Fragonia (Agonis fragrans). This essential oil has been calling to me. It has a slightly floral, slightly citrus, slightly sweet, fresh camphoraceous scent. It is a balancing oil that has components similar to eucalyptus, pine, lavender, and tea tree. In Europe pine and eucalyptus were mixed together for specific respiratory infectious conditions, in fragonia this medicinal benefit naturally exists.
It also helps to regulate circadian rhythms, it seems to balance both the pineal and pituitary gland. It is antibacterial and anti fungal, has expectorant qualities and analgesic effects. It is an all around balancing oil that helps one unblock and release emotional patterns, rebalancing the psyche.
I combined that with Douglas fir, a purifier. It is uplifting yet relaxing because it increases deep breathing benefitting the respiratory system. It is expansive to our mind and breath, it helps to clear brain fog and bring clarity.
Sweet Orange — cheerful refreshing sweet orange! Makes one smile with its uplifting aroma. It improves circulation and help to move lymph.
Rosemary has recently undergone some major research in anti-aging showing rosmarinic acid is a powerhouse nutrient. Recent data points to it having many benefits; for the skin it reduces oxidative stress, is a cellular regenerator, and is an endocrine regulator specifically helpful for post menopausal syndrome, especially hot flashes.
Rosemary is deeply connected with memory —improving memory and cognitive health. It reduces pain, is good for digestion, relieves congestion, helps prevent and reduce severity of colds, and soothes nervous tension. An herb and essential oil you want to use often!
And lastly a few drops of sweet Ylang Ylang. Ylang ylang has robust research in helping to lower blood pressure. (One of many studies can be found here.) It supports the hormonal system and is frequently used to help relieve PMS symptoms, helps soothe anxiety, and dispel anger. It builds self confidence and releases endorphins that help to reduce pain and create a euphoric mood. It calms the heart and eases the mind 🙂
