Testimonials about our yoga classes:

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the class and what a wonderful teacher you are. I especially appreciate your gentle guidance and hands on assistance which really maximizes the experience and makes for a very loving and supportive environment. Thank you! LH

Dear Bobbi Since i have left PA i have not yet found a class or a studio that i could focus in as well as i focused in your classes, i really felt like i was making progress at Be Fit and since then i have made small gains but cant seem to really give myself over to yoga since being in your studio. I guess that should be a testament to your instruction. Even though there were forty other people in the class i always felt like i was being well taken care of in improving my practice. Thank You. Very Sincerely, Brian L.

Dear Bobbi, You probably don’t remember me, but I attended your classes for a few months way back in 2002/2003 while I was living at home with my parents in Mechanicsburg. I just wanted to send you a simple note to say thanks for your instruction during that time. I was going through a transitionary period in my life, trying to figure out where to go next, and your classes every week provided me with a great deal of insight and grounding. I had never practiced Ashtanga or Pranayama before, and the fundamentals of what I learned with you have stayed with me ever since. I’ve since carried those principles into deeper meditation practice and I’m hoping to get back into yoga soon. Anyway, just a note of gratitude to let you know that your work is touching people’s lives, as it did mine. Continued success and strength to you. All my best, Sri

Thought I’d share these…
Before Yoga Hated my body and dwelled upon the things it couldn’t do.
After Yoga Love my body and marvel at the things it can do and is capable of doing with patience and practice.
Before Yoga Compared myself to others (better jobs, bigger houses, better behaved kids, more helpful husbands, etc.)
After Yoga Developed drishti for not only my poses but my life. Concentrate on setting my focus on my own goals and personal happiness.
Before Yoga Allowed myself to get upset and emotional over things that really were out of my control.
After Yoga Spend less energy worrying and face each challenge as it comes. I use yoga breathing to calm myself and clear my mind before I make big decisions.
Before Yoga Go, go, go, go…
After Yoga Stop, reflect, relax, enjoy the moment…breathe
Thank you for helping to bring these changes about in me!

I want to take this opportunity to tell you what a wonderful teacher you are.  You are patient and encouraging.  You provide very good direction.  The environment that you’ve created in your studio is perfect – calming and peaceful.  The words that come out of your mouth help me ‘get it’ relative to others.  You provide much support and help to the whole class in a very caring manner.  You are good at what you do.  Thank you for sharing your gifts with the rest of us. Wina Before I came to my first class, I was skeptical about yoga in general. Not just the physical aspect, but also the philosophical. So, I was what you call a “hard sell”. I remember my first beginner class, Deborah had been coming for a few months and it was time for me to give it a try. Apprehensive was an understatement, but it was time to do something – why not yoga. I wasn’t able to do the things I had done all my life – basketball, softball, and my hours at work kept me from golf in the evenings. Let’s try yoga. I had no idea, except for the pictures in David Swenson’s book, which of course were pretty intimidating, given my knees and inflexible body. And then you add breathe though your nose! OMG, I’m a mouth breather after all. What else could there be? Mat envy – even in beginner class! Seeing others doing 2nd while I was doing 1st half of primary. I never in my life was “worse” than 90% of the people in the room. Then…”worse” became “behind” and “behind” became “almost” and then it was FUN. Once I knew that I was not competing with anyone, not even yesterday’s practice, I started to relax and enjoy the fact that I felt better – even though I was sore, I could see a change in my body. I could see muscles cut in my legs again and my pants started getting bigger, somehow. Now, 1/2 primary wasn’t enough. Oh, and by the way, I leapt into buying a business and changing my WHOLE outlook on money and well being. Did yoga do that – I’m sure it contributed, a lot! Now that I quit that job and worked closer to home, I could get to more classes. So full primary – here we go. All over again, new poses, new people, but a new confidence. Who cares what other people are doing, look what I’m doing. Who would have thought it, me doing yoga. If I want to do more classes, it didn’t seem like I was making progress with 3 times a week, my only option is Mysore – oh no. Now I’m in the big league. Do I know the poses and the series well enough. I might be the only one doing primary in mysore – just do it. It will be fine, they’ll help me. I forgot a few poses and messed up the sequence a little, but the world kept turning and I didn’t do too badly. I liked it – my own pace, my own breath, if I had a question, you were there or somebody else would tell me. My body continues to tell me, this is good. More energy, less pain, better outlook, what else is there? Now what – I can’t stay in primary for ever. I’ve never done a back bend in my life – even as a kid. But I have to try, all this forward bending. I can tell I need it, and you reinforce it. The poses you hate are the ones you need…urdhva dhanurasana. Ugh! Second is so hard for me; hurts my knees, hurts my back – can hardly stand up or sit down while I’m in class. Afterwards, I feel good. Like I said…my body is changing, slowly changing. Maybe, I’ll never get into lotus, maybe my next set of knees will bend further (I have a feeling I’ll wear these knees out – not the knees, but the bones around them), there’s more progress to be made. One thing’s for sure, yoga is changing my life. Thanks so much for your inspiration, your friendship and your dedication to the old school. Without modification – I’d still be sitting on the couch! MJ

Your story is such an inspiration to me . . . I remember you from Slim Time Spa and it’s funny, because even waaaaaaaaaay back then, while you seemed to fit right in with your co-workers, there was something that made you stand out . . . I sensed it way back . . . and look where you’ve come. Wow! You followed your dream and because of it, you have given many of us (your students — even random/sometimes short-term ones like me) a gift that we are very grateful for – the gift of being a GREAT teacher. I have always enjoyed your classes but over the years, I’ve watched you evolve and each little thing you change, makes me love your classes EVEN more! Namaste, Joanne

Hi Bobbi! I’m sending you this email just to say thanks for your BeFit yoga studio and website. I am very fortunate to live just a mile from BeFit and although I’m somewhat of a cynic when it comes to things that are “meant to be” I have no doubt that finding BeFit was truly serendipitous. The love your instructors have for yoga is obvious and special since I’m sure they’ve taught a gazillion classes by now. I’m especially grateful for their patience with me, as there have been several times when I’ve heard their calm, friendly voices say, “no Melissa, your other left foot.” And your website is just great. It’s my go-to source for all things Ashtanga yoga–thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge. Not a day goes by when I’m not referring to the BeFit site for info on poses, nutrition, and of course class times (I don’t have the schedule memorized–yet!) So thank you, thank you, thank you. Sincerely, Melissa

Hi Bobbi, I wanted to say thank you, to you. I know I don’t say it enough, but I am so grateful that I have you as a teacher, and that I found your studio. On days when I feel miles away from where I want to be in life, yoga always reminds me that I am exactly where I need to be. You are a really wonderful teacher! I had a really great retreat weekend- Thanks for everything! Love, Abby

Bobbi, I also want to thank you for a wonderful weekend (retreat)! It was an insightful, theraputic and incredibly motivating experience. The only disappointing part is that your studio is so far away! Take care, Caren K.

Hey Bobbi, Just wanted to let you know how much I am reading and enjoying your archived articles. Wow – so much useful stuff! You write very well and your friendly personality and style come through so clearly. LOVE IT – and you. Thanks again for the great workshop. I’ll make sure I get to learn more with you soon. Susan T.

Hi Bobbi, Do you think I’m ready to start taking the full Primary classes? The reason I’m asking; I’ve made a decision in regards to healing my back and the restless leg syndrome. I feel that I’m getting more results from the practice of yoga than I am with the doctors, plus I really don’t like taking medications and honestly, the cost of going to see the doctors, (I see two) is ridiculous. I see them for about 15 minutes, just to hear them say, continue doing what you’ve been doing, so why not put that money towards the practice of yoga. I’ve made a conscious decision in educating myself and commit myself to the practice. I see and I’m experiencing nothing but positive changes in all areas mentally, physically and spiritually. Best Regards. Donna T.

Another thanks. I just hosted a corporate offsite over the past two days and I have to thank you for helping me get back on my game. I was developing stress cracks that were reaching scary heights over the past few years and I can’t put into words the impact you have had on growing my practice to the point where I am finally going back up the mountain-spiritually, personally, and professionally. As you know, with these things, the less said the better, so I’ll leave it at that and look forward to continued growth. Again, thank you so much for all your help. I think your talents are needed in the corporate world.

Hey Bobbi. Thought I’d share a thought. I had what I think was my best practice last night at the Mysore class, and I’ve come to realize that yoga is not about being “good at it”, and that’s what makes it so different. Our “breakthroughs and valleys” are more about growing than getting good at it or better than anyone else, and I think that also goes to the ego thing. Does that make sense? Namaste John K.

Bobbi, I wanted to tell you that Tuesday was one of the best classes I have ever attended. I learned a lot about my posture and that arch in my back (that should not be there) and I have been much more conscious of it and have been trying to use my ab muscles to keep my pelvic tilt and after years of not using them correctly I have to say it is very difficult. But it is the consciousness and awareness that you gave to me that has been awesome. I always walk away from class with something new and just want to thank you so much for all that you do. I feel so blessed to have met you. Donna

I wanted to thank you for being such an excellent teacher. Your compassion, enthusiasm, and expertise come through with every class. Even though I can’t attend as often as I’d like, my heart is often in the studio. I was thinking about how I could best persuade readers of your website (in the testimonials section) how important your Ashtanga studio and teachings have been to me, and so I came up with some ideas. How BeFit Ashtanga Studio Has Given to Me: Physically: * I finally lost the 15 pounds of post-baby delivery fat that I’d been struggling with for four years * I have much more energy: more than when I was running or doing other types of exercise * I need less sleep * My back, often a source of muscle pain, has felt awesome since I started practice regularly seven months ago Mentally: * I am more peaceful * I used to spend hours a day — or night — worrying. I’m still a worrier, but for far fewer hours a week * I get stress-related hives. The last time I got them, instead of taking medicine, which makes me sleepy, I practiced Ashtanga yoga, and the hives went away. Spiritually: * Actually, I think this is where I’m learning the most, but it’s hard to put it into words. As the Professor from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe says about Narnia, so too about the yogic journey: “Indeed, don’t  try to get there at all. It’ll happen when you’re not looking for it. And don’t talk too much about it even among yourselves. And don’t mention it to anyone else unless you find that they’ve had adventures of the same sort themselves . . .” Namaste, Chrissy

Hi Bobbi, I wanted to thank you for all the great assists last night – I had a really good practice! Thanks for being such a good teacher. I feel like my life has changed a lot since finding ashtanga, your studio and you – all for the better. I feel calmer, happier and healthier. Love, Abby F.

Bobbi, Tonight’s class was great, I have a lot to learn and experience! Yoga has been such a surprising new adventure. I was a division one athlete and trained at the elite level for almost six years battling shoulder injury after shoulder injury. Also along the way the rest of my body was in pretty bad shape. The improvement that I have had in just the short time I have been practicing is remarkable. My shoulder flexibility is something I have been trying to achieve for a long time I wish I had only known about the benefits of yoga when I was playing. I plan on continuing for a long time and couldn’t have found a better place to learn! Thanks again, Sara

Bobbi. I just finished my bikran yoga session here in buffalo and thought you would appreciate some feedback. I expected ashtanga at 102 degrees. But much different postures with a few in common with some variations. Very intense with the heat. Multiple times I was hoping for the session to end. You should also be interested to know that the teacher couldn’t hold a candle to your approach. Very quick in his instruction and not nearly as engaging as your approach. I guess the best way I can describe it is that you have created a sanctuary-get-away kind of environment with very engaged, supportive instruction. different than what I experienced tonight. In fact, had this been my first experience with yoga, I’m not sure I would have continued. Thought you would appreciate the feedback on your approach. You set the bar pretty high.

I am glad you are enjoying Maui! I just also want to tell you what a wonderful instructor you are and how helpful you are in class. I know you will say that it is just your job, but I have been reading so many articles where instructors don’t assist their students and they are getting injuries because of it. I can’t even tell you how much better I feel since I have been doing yoga – mind, body, and soul! I just wanted to say thank you again. You have such a warm personality and really make class enjoyable. Enjoy the rest of your trip! Beth

Contrary to how I fidget sometimes, I do love how I feel afterwards and how my body responds. You’ve created a wonderful oasis for many people. Susie

P.S. I LOVE the articles you have written on your Web site. They are exactly the kind of thing that I, personally, have been seeking. I’m dabbling in mindful living … your articles make it a lot easier to understand than most Buddhism books. Thank you. Shawn

Hi Bobbi, you probably don’t remember me but I came to your yoga studio during the winter of 2003-2004 on a regular basis. I just want to tell you that I had such a great experience while attending classes at your studio. I have since graduated from medical school and I am now in San Diego, CA continuing my medical training. I have been in so many places throughout the past few years due to different hospital rotations and I just want to let you know that I have tried many yoga studios during my travels and I haven’t found one as calming and comforting as yours. That winter back in 2003-2004 was particularly cold and, ironically, I can’t think of a warmer memory than the calm lights, music, and practice at your studio. I recently visited your website and I see that you have moved to a new location. I’m sure it’s as wonderful as the last. Thank you for your passion and willingness to teach a life-changing practice.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the gentle yoga class today. Susan was wonderful, and the class is exactly what I need right now. I loved your studio and the whole atmosphere. I felt very positive, happy energy there, and I left feeling so much better than when I came in!!! Namaste,

Ivy Greenawalt

Hi Bobbi, I miss your classes. I was taking yoga classes here, but it got too expensive. One month of classes equal to three months at your studio! Also the instructors I have had are not half as great as you. I want to get back into it again.I can’t wait to get my cd. Thank you! Namaste

Katie

Thanks again for all your hard work and efforts. I absolutely enjoy yoga and continue to learn. Your passion for what you do shines through and adds such a great energy to classes. I have enjoyed seeing you and the other instructors grow as well as seeing myself grow. It is very exciting to stretch to new levels. Thanks again and have a great day!

Joan

NAMASTE Bobbi, I love your classes! I have accepted a new job in Washington DC so I have recently moved. I am looking for a yoga studio here and none of them compare. You set the bar high. Thank you so much for your classes. You have made me a life long student of yoga from here on out. I decreased my stress and became more flexible, it really changed my outlook on life and my overall health. My goal is to touch my toes and one day I know I will reach it!

-Hilary

First and foremost I wanted to tell you….I absolutely love your studio. I’m taking the beginning workshop.  Holly is wonderful and the studio provides such a relaxing atmosphere.  It’s truly a joy!

Nita Matula

I am so glad that I chose you to learn the practice of yoga. You have been an excellent instructor and even though progress is slow sometimes, I feel that I have come a long way since I started (how many years has it been since Fishing Creek Elementary?). Thanks for all your help and encouragement. See you soon. Linda Goodhart

Your little speeches about ego & soul have been very informative and helpful this week. Without a doubt the biggest life improvements I have received from doing yoga have been in that area. Even though I struggle with this issue, I feel so lucky and grateful to have such a wonderful guru as you and appreciate all you do very much! Thank you Bobbi! Namaste… Michael R. Penney

On our Retreats:

“Maui 2017 … what can I say other than – the trip of my lifetime!
Bobbi is the most caring and accommodating host. She knows the island well and helped to create experiences that continue to live with me everyday. We had a great yoga practice every morning followed by a nutritious and organic brunch made from local ingredients prepared by Lala – the most gentle, and kind person. We explored the island and had some unexpected spiritual experiences at Haleakala. Beautiful place with beautiful people. I would like to explore it again. Thank you Bobbi – Love, Anna”

2010 Maui Retreat Testimonial:   Bobbi’s Maui yoga retreat which I attended was my first.  I had just retired and wanted to do something special.  And special it was.  She had spent a lot of time in planning.  She met us at the airport and took us to our residence. We began each day with a yoga practice, and then a delicious breakfast.  We would spend the rest of the days going to places that the normal tourist would not know about.  Returning from Haleakala , a  volcano on the island, I remember being enthralled seeing 2 rainbows at the same time.

Bobbi knows  the island so well.  We had a great experience going to different beaches, her favorite places on the island  and restaurants.    It was that retreat that I came to love yoga even more.  I improved in my yoga a lot  by the end of the week.  My confidence increased with the many poses I was hesitant  to do prior to that retreat.  The memories will be with me forever.  If anyone enjoys yoga and loves an adventure you will find it with Bobbi.    Donna M.

Having been on 2 trips to Maui with Bobbi, I can attest that she knows the island well. She will introduce you to the local hot spots for food, fun, shopping, hiking, and swimming.  Outings on the Hana Highway to black sand beaches and waterfall fed swimming holes are common destinations.  Yoga sessions at the tomato farm are inspiring with Nancy. And who knows who you might practice with from a who’s who in ashtanga yoga.  Maui is a paradise, and Bobbi can show you the way.  MJ
